As I am filling out my profile, having yet to view the site in its entirety, I can't wait to see everybody and find out what you've been up to all these years.

You were our upper classmen, and we looked up to you for your help and guidance and when the time came for you to go before us into the world and make your mark, you made it easier for us when our time came. You were a great class to follow, and I look now with great anticipation to see the amazing things you have accomplished, the people you have met and the places you have been. I already know without looking that I will not be disappointed...

Lara asked me to write a little about me, so...

After coming back from Viet Nam, I was allowed to pick a base I want to spend my last 11 months. I picked Myrtle Beach AFB, which is no longer there. Land was way too valuable for an airbase I suppose. Anyway, half way through I met a cute blond from Pennsylvania. We were very good friends up until my last month or so, then something happened...She asked me to come home with her for Thanksgiving, meet her family and watch the leaves change colors. I should have seen it coming...but we were just friends...what harm would it be to just meet her family?

When it was time to head back, something came over me...I had not only realized that if I didn't do something then, I may never be coming back to PA, but I would also be loosing one of the best friends I had ever had. OMG! I had fallen in love with my best friend...What do I do? Well, when I asked her to marry me in front of her parents...she cried and ran to her bedroom. I told her parents that I thought she'd be happy...Her mom said, "She is...Now, go back there and get your bride".

Life, for some, is built along a rocky road...It has not been a smooth ride for me by any stretch... This friend has been through it all. She was with me when I had encephalitis and in a comma for almost two weeks from high fevers, the tragedies of being told she could not conceive and loosing my young mother at 63 in '89 and lastly, a stem cell transplant in 2000 to cure me of Leukemia (AML).

She has always been there by my side...but I regret to say, there were times when the road was so very rough and twisted that all I wanted was to run away and start another life somewhere else. It was her love for me and the Grace of God that got me through all these things. Believe me. When you have these two loving and caring for you, you can't help but sing Their praises...He is my every breath I now breathe, but I don't want to take another one without her by my side...

So...How is it that she couldn't conceive, but I have three sons listed? We were given a brochure by her doctor for an adoption agency in Texas with a five year waiting list to get on the list. A year later, we went to Greenville for my grandfather's funeral.

A month after returning home, some lady calls me and said she wanted to speak to daddy. I said, "I'm sorry you must have the wrong number" and hung up. She called back and said she wanted to speak to the daddy of her baby. I said, "What!?" Then she said in a voice I recognized, "Bobby. Honey. You're going to be a daddy!" Somebody had turned the water on, and it didn't shut it off until we had had two more sons...

God is still on the throne...and He does answer prayers. We thought He had already answered by having us wait five years and then telling us we couldn't conceive...but...

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens... Ecc3:1

W/O Davey Marlin Adams

Birth:     Nov. 23, 1945
Greenville, Washington, Mississippi
Death:     Dec. 12, 1968, Hua NVietnam

Son of Howard Adams and Emma Williams
Helicopter (Huey) pilot who was shot down in Vietnam.
He and his co-pilot survived the crash but were both
killed in a firefight with the VC (Viet Cong). The following
is from the Crew Chief who survived both the crash and
firefight:

Davey, So many years have past remembering the day
12/12/68. Not a day goes by without remembering you,
Michael Murphy and the tragic results of that day. We
fought a valiant fight after going down, but I guess it
just wasn't in the cards for you and Mike to survive.
There are many days that it sucks to be one of the
survivors. You can't help but wonder if I could have
done something different.
Rest In Peace My Brother, until we meet again.
